I interviewed for a Software Engineer role with a relatively structured, multi-step process that stretched over multiple stages.

Recruiter screen — I had an initial call where the recruiter shared the role and explained the overall next steps.
Manager interview — a discussion with the hiring manager.
Take-home (Rails app) — I completed a take-home challenge inside a Rails app.
Technical interview on the take-home — a technical conversation focused on my take-home work.
Department director interview — a final leadership-level interview. Outcome: I didn’t move forward, but the recruiter later suggested a call about future opportunities, followed by a feedback survey.
