GitLab Backend Engineer interview experience

• Application + screening + assessment — multiple early stages.
• Technical interview — I completed the technical round successfully.
• Team interview — I was told I wasn’t selected due to a lack of large language model (LLM) experience; it felt extra frustrating because my background was in computer vision.

Outcome: No offer; the main takeaway was that the final decision hinged heavily on LLM-specific experience, regardless of adjacent AI skills.
