HungaryPosted Oct 2022 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I applied for Software Engineer in Genesys Hungary and had an extremely difficult, unfair experience driven by language requirements, ending in silence.

Recruiter contact — A senior recruiter contacted me quickly and then discovered I didn’t know Hungarian.
Eligibility probing — Even after confirming citizenship and that I didn’t need a work permit, the recruiter asked additional eligibility details. Outcome: I was effectively ghosted and then rejected elsewhere; the takeaway is that local eligibility screening overrode merit and the process lacked transparency.
