I went through a difficult, early-stage consultant process that was mostly two phone interviews, and it felt intrusive because I couldn’t get a normal back-and-forth.

Online application + personality test — I applied and completed a personality test.
Phone interview #1 — A recorded call similar to the online personality items.
Phone interview #2 — Another week-later call mixing job-experience questions with more “left field” prompts; the interviewer had a one-way conversation style and wasn’t able to answer or clarify.
