I went through an all-day interview sequence that began with breakfast and included multiple conversations across the day.

I spoke with a wide range of people in different roles, with the overall structure designed to assess how my personality fit into their environment.

The DC office environment stood out immediately because it felt heavily male-dominated, and the atmosphere was described to me as more of a “locker room” style culture. Women, in particular, didn’t seem to fit into the social dynamic in the way the day presented itself, and that inconsistency left an impression on me as the interviews progressed.

Even though it wasn’t described as difficult, the experience felt very much like a culture screen.
