My interview experience felt unusually frustrating from the start.

The interviewer kept cutting me off every few seconds, so I couldn’t even finish a single thought. When I tried to discuss reasoning like “back of the envelope” calculations, the interruptions happened immediately. The conversation also got tangled in details around regions, availability zones, and disaster recovery, where I was trying to explain my approach but kept being stopped.

I remember getting challenged on assumptions I was making, including a belief that everything needed to be synchronous to avoid data loss, and a narrow take on performance that seemed to focus mostly on minimum
