My C++ test started as an automated exercise on a website, and there was even a tutorial provided before I ran it.

After I completed it, they analyzed my responses, and only if the results looked positive would they schedule me for an online interview.

The difficulty was described as difficult, and the flow supported that idea: it wasn’t just a short chat about experience—it was a structured evaluation of how I handled the automated C++ work.

I ended up getting an offer. What stuck with me was how the process used a gatekeeping step first—clear expectations up front, then an interview only if the assessment went well.
