I experienced an internal/technical-track style path where evaluation centered on technical competence, and in one case it led to starting a professional career.

Face-to-face technical discussion — initial discussion in the location where I had previously been associated as an apprentice trainee.
Written exam — followed the technical conversation.
Career start — after selection, I started professionally.
Technical domain interview (separate instance) — I also had a round focused on knowledge of PLC/SCADA and related tools for system work. Outcome: I didn’t report an offer for every path, but at least one journey resulted in selection and starting work; the takeaway was technical readiness and domain fit.
