Crowdstrike Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Nov 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My first real signal came from a hiring manager screen that covered microservices, event-driven systems, and scaling.

Then I hit coding where the problem was Number of Islands. After that, there was a take-home system design assignment that was VirusTotal-like in spirit.

The take-home design was the hardest part for me overall, and during the process I was down-leveled from what I had applied for. After that, I was ghosted—no offer and no real explanation beyond the level change.

What reinforced my sense of the difficulty was that the islands coding and the VirusTotal-style system design pieces seemed to match each other in theme: systems thinking plus practical implementation.
