Crowdstrike Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Sep 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I got pulled into a fairly focused engineering loop for a Software Engineer role, and the main thing I remember was the coding round’s security-flavored framing.

The prompt asked me to work from starter C++ code and implement a DetectionStore: I had to support adding a Detection via Put, and then provide a way to return the next detection from GetNext in order of risk score.

The overall feel was that it was practical and concrete—less about memorizing trivia and more about getting the data structure behavior right. The prompt was “recent concrete coding” with the domain baked in, and that made it feel more like a real engineering exercise than a generic algorithm question.
