After I connected with a headhunter, I was directed to the local office.

I met in person with the hiring manager first, and the meeting was highly interactive. The way the hiring manager framed it was optimistic, as if they wanted to see my potential and believed there was a path forward.

That was followed by a phone interview with the hiring manager’s manager. Between the two conversations, it felt like they were steadily layering in more evaluation.

I didn’t receive an offer, but I remember leaving with a more positive attitude than I expected because the first in-person conversation felt geared toward a productive outcome if I demonstrated the right fit.
