I interviewed for a Software Engineer role that was average in difficulty and followed a simple two-round pattern over a short period, ending without an offer.

Technical round — I was evaluated through technical questions and, in one case, building an app based on interviewer-provided parameters (a longer, hands-on session).
Manager/technical follow-up — I did a second round with a hiring manager that included additional technical questions and some behavioral discussion.
HR screen — In another similar version of this journey, the process ended with a brief HR chat. Outcome: I was rejected in the later stage, and my takeaway was that being able to explain both your technical decisions and your experience under manager scrutiny
