I interviewed for a Software Engineer role where the process was still average difficulty, but it stretched into more technical rounds than they initially described and the final conversation felt especially restrictive.

Initial recruiter framing (2 tech + 1 HR) — they described a standard format, but my path didn’t match that.
Multiple technical rounds (more than expected) — I ended up with several technical interviews, including one that involved a head-level interviewer who didn’t allow much back-and-forth.
Final technical round — a technical discussion with a senior leader where conversation felt one-sided. Outcome: I didn’t move forward; the takeaway is to be ready for a longer, more technical-heavy loop than advertised.
