I started with an HR phone interview that felt very standard.

They asked about my interest in the sector, a recent deal I’d followed that was relevant, and any global events that mattered in the broader context.

The questions were more about how I think about the news and the industry than about deep technical calculations. It was the kind of screen that set the tone early: focused on motivation and awareness. I didn’t get an offer after that stage, but it didn’t feel like the interview was trying to catch me—it felt like a baseline check.
