I reached out by email to a professor I wanted to work with and we set up a Zoom interview shortly after.

The process felt extremely light—there wasn’t much in the way of formal steps. The conversation quickly turned into me getting a feel for the role, with the professor asking about my background and what I’d done so far.

What stood out to me was how willing the professor was to work with my level of experience as a student. I left the call feeling like the goal was fit and momentum more than testing. Overall it was a comfortable, low-pressure interview that moved me forward without any complicated hurdles.
