I ended up flying out to the firm’s headquarters for an in-person interview with the project lead, and it turned into a more personal conversation than I expected.

Since I was fresh out of college, we spent time talking through what motivated me and why I thought the firm was a good fit, instead of focusing solely on technical experience.

The vibe was conversational and relationship-focused, which made the experience feel less intimidating. It was also a reminder that for this kind of role, they looked at motivation and clarity, not just what was on my resume.
