I had a very difficult, multi-stage Account Executive process with a clear sales methodology focus, but it stumbled on execution timing and misalignment during the core discovery conversation.

Recruiter call — Initial phone conversation to screen for fit.
Mock discovery call with hiring manager — I was pushed into a discovery sales-call format aligned with a “Challenger”-style job description, but the hiring manager’s approach leaned heavily toward lots of upfront questioning.
Onsite (travel) — I flew onsite to meet management.
CEO round — A final conversation with the CEO. Outcome: I didn’t move forward; the hardest part was the methodology mismatch and a rushed hiring-manager interview due to lateness and early ending.
