AspenTech Software Engineer interview experience

Got offer

MediumBoston, MAPosted Jan 2013 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I got a phone interview invite where it was mainly straightforward details about my resume and basic OOP.

It didn’t feel overly technical, just like an initial filter.

After about a week, I went onsite for four separate interviews: two technical sessions, one with a manager, and one with HR. The technical parts asked me to prepare around C++ and OOP, plus basic algorithm-style questions that included things like linked lists and hash tables.

The manager and HR segments were more about the role and fit, while the technical rounds were the most structured. I went through the full set, but I didn’t receive an offer. Looking back, the technical depth felt more concrete here than in the early phone
