I had an early recruiter-style screen where we went through my background at a high level and focused on fit, interest in the company, and a short pass through my experience.

That first call didn’t feel like it was trying to trip me up; it was more about checking whether I was a match before moving forward.

The main thing that threw me off wasn’t the content—it was how hard it was to understand both interviewers because of accents and the pace they spoke. Once we got past that friction, the conversation stayed fairly typical for a first technical screen.

Then the process moved forward with multiple people: a Skype-style interview and additional discussions with managers and R&D
