What is a Customer Success Engineer at Zscaler?
The Customer Success Engineer (CSE) at Zscaler is a highly strategic, hybrid role that sits at the intersection of deep technical engineering and enterprise relationship management. Unlike traditional support or purely relationship-focused account management roles, a Customer Success Engineer is directly responsible for ensuring that Zscaler’s largest and most complex enterprise customers successfully adopt, integrate, and maximize the value of their cloud security investments. You will act as the primary technical advocate and trusted advisor, guiding customers through their Zero Trust migration journeys.
In this role, your technical expertise directly impacts customer retention, platform expansion, and overall business growth. Zscaler is the pioneer of the Zero Trust Exchange, securing thousands of global organizations by routing their traffic through a massive, distributed security cloud. As a Customer Success Engineer, you will help customers navigate complex deployments involving Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), and Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX). When enterprise environments experience routing anomalies, policy conflicts, or latency issues, you are the expert who bridges the gap between customer IT teams and Zscaler’s internal product and engineering divisions.
Ultimately, the Customer Success Engineer is critical because cloud security is not a "set-and-forget" technology. Enterprise networks are dynamic, and security policies must evolve alongside them. By combining deep architectural knowledge of computer networks with polished executive presence, you will help customers transform their legacy hub-and-spoke network security architectures into modern, cloud-native Zero Trust environments. It is a challenging, fast-paced role where you must be as comfortable debugging a TCP handshake as you are delivering a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) to a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
