
Some 20,000 Tigers claw their way toward a college degree annually at the University of Memphis. Through about 10 colleges and schools, the university offers 15 bachelor's degrees in more than 50 majors, master's degrees in more than 45 subjects, and doctoral degrees in nearly two dozen disciplines, as well as a Juris Doctor degree in law and a specialist degree in education. The University of Memphis was founded in 1912 as a teacher training college called West Tennessee State Normal School.
