I got an email from a recruiter inviting me to complete a pre-recorded video interview, and not long after, I was also asked to meet with the hiring manager. What stood out immediately was that I hadn’t had any direct recruiter conversation before either step, and I didn’t get much context about compensation, the process, or what the role would really expect from me. Going into that hiring manager conversation felt odd since I hadn’t spoken to anyone at the company yet.
After the hiring manager meeting, I was told the recruiter would follow up soon about next steps and logistics, but I heard nothing. I followed up by email, and it took over a week just to get silence to repeat itself—no reply. A couple of weeks later, I received a generic rejection email, and the whole timeline felt impersonal, like getting ghosted after putting in effort. Even so, I knew people who’d had positive experiences there, so it didn’t feel like the standard flow—it felt like an outlier.

Average Negative United States
My process felt negative from the start. The HR interviewer came across as very picky and made judgments very early, and during the conversation she shared negative views about the hiring manager and the previous person in the role. Throughout the interview, she mostly didn’t ask much that felt substantive—really only getting me to “tell me about yourself.”
Afterward, I was asked to submit extra information over email, but I never got any further feedback or even a response acknowledging what I sent. That lack of follow-through made the whole experience feel disrespectful and dismissive, especially because I’d already taken the time to participate and then do the follow-up they requested. Overall, the process left me with a strong negative impression that didn’t match the effort I put in.
