I started with a recruiter conversation, and the whole thing felt pretty relaxed and not overly deep. I went through my background and the role in a way that stayed surface-level, and at the end I got positive feedback. My documents were then passed along to the hiring manager for the relevant team.
After that handoff, I was scheduled to meet the manager for what was described as the next step, including a discussion of an assignment I would receive. The manager did review my application before that next stage and, instead of moving forward, my application was declined. The process was smooth in tone, but the decision happened sooner than the later round ever got the chance to happen, and I left feeling a little blindsided by the speed of it.
