This process felt relentlessly technical and puzzle-like. After an early recruiter conversation, I ended up doing a hiring-manager interview and then a technical screen, followed by a virtual onsite that was essentially a longer series of technical evaluations. Across the rounds, the interviews leaned hard on whether I could solve “the right thing” as a puzzle, and it often felt like the interviewer had limited patience for questions or for trying an alternate approach.
By the time I reached the onsite, I was in a long stretch of problem-solving that didn’t leave much room for clarifying the intent. One round targeted algorithm practice, another was billed as systems design but didn’t match what I prepared for, and there was even a psychological/behavioral/culture-fit interview that ran much longer than I expected. In total, I spent nearly all day interviewing, with additional time consumed by preparation for rounds that I ultimately didn’t even end up having.

Coding showed up as practical exercises rather than “perfect code style” gotchas, and I was allowed to use JavaScript or whatever language I preferred. The onsite ended up mixing a system design round, more technical depth (including a front-end angle for a full-stack setup), and a behavioral discussion.
What I remember most was how the technical questions varied in shape and ambiguity. One part felt like it was probing CS fundamentals beyond simple LeetCode patterns, while the front-end coding portion asked me to implement functionality based on a screenshot pulled from their website. The interviewer encouraged me to go in any direction—either leaning hard into styling or into the behavior—but I felt like I was pushed to commit to one lane quickly, and I didn’t manage to finish it the way they wanted. Even though I felt decent going in, that specific round became a dealbreaker.
