Everything we know about interviewing at Horizon Media: the process stage by stage, what each round tests, and compensation by level.
Interviewing at Horizon Media
What the process looks like, and what Horizon Media is really testing for.
Horizon Media interviews are heavily skills driven, especially around data work. Across the extracted topics, SQL is the most consistently represented programming language (percentile 98), and Python and advanced Excel are also at the top (percentile 100 for both Python and Excel advanced, percentile 100 for research, marketing analytics, and financial analysis).
The loop tests your ability to use data tools to analyze business problems and communicate clearly about your approach. The most prominent topic buckets are Problem Solving (soft_skill, percentile 60) plus deep technical work across SQL, Python, Excel, and analysis areas (Research Analysis, Marketing Analytics, Financial Analysis, Financial Statement Analysis all at percentile 100 or very high).
What you can expect procedurally from the reported steps is a mix of recruiter screening and multiple evaluation rounds. The process includes phone screen and HR screen in some form, then case study or live coding in the technical portion, and then several panel or team-member conversations culminating in a final decision that may happen on the same day as the last interview.
Even though Horizon Media has a range of roles, the topic mix is dominated by SQL plus analytics in Excel, research analysis, marketing analytics, and financial analysis, so you should prepare to answer technical questions and demonstrate end-to-end reasoning, not just general problem solving.
The Horizon Media interview process
5 stages, based on 500 candidate reports.
Phone Screen
VariesYou start with an initial recruiter call to verify your interest and background, and to cover career goals and basic qualifications. In some roles, HR screening is also present as a separate alignment check.
Behavioral Interview
VariesYou discuss past experiences with a focus on cultural fit and past work. Prepare to connect your experiences to problem solving and collaboration, since those show up as prominent evaluation areas.
Technical Assessment: Case Study Discussion and/or Live Coding
VariesYou may be asked to do a case study discussion to demonstrate analytical thinking. The technical content strongly emphasizes SQL Query Writing, live coding, and analytics topics like research, marketing analytics, and financial analysis.
Panel and Department-Specific Rounds
Same day or multi-round formatYou meet with hiring managers, peers, and potentially other leadership depending on the role, sometimes in a structured format with multiple team members. There are also department-specific rounds where you talk with several team members, either sequentially or as a superday-like format.
Final Rounds and Final Decision
Same day as last interview possibleYou may have additional final interview conversations with team members and management to assess overall fit and alignment with technical and interpersonal expectations. The final decision can occur on the same day as the last interview.
