What is a Mobile Engineer at Enviva?
At Enviva, a Mobile Engineer—internally and operationally designated as a Mobile Equipment Operator—plays an indispensable role in the daily manufacturing process. Enviva is the world’s largest producer of industrial wood pellets, a renewable alternative to coal. In this role, you are the backbone of the raw material supply chain within the plant. You are responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy mobile machinery, such as front-end loaders, knuckleboom loaders, forklifts, and industrial sweepers, to manage woodyard inventory and keep the production mill continuously supplied.
Your work directly impacts the plant's production capacity, material quality, and overall operational efficiency. Operating within the woodyard of facilities like those in Ahoskie, NC, Garysburg, NC, or Franklin, VA, you will manage massive stockpiles of logs, bark, and wood chips. You ensure that the woodyard remains organized, raw materials are properly blended, and the plant hopper is consistently fed. A delay in your operation can stall the entire manufacturing line, making your precision, speed, and reliability highly visible and deeply valued.
This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, hands-on, and safety-first industrial environments. It requires a high level of situational awareness, mechanical aptitude, and the stamina to work in outdoor conditions across rotating shifts. At Enviva, you are not just driving heavy machinery; you are actively driving the clean energy transition by managing the fuel that powers sustainable energy plants worldwide.
