Committee for Children has been advocating for children’s safety and well-being since 1979. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we develop research-based programs and conduct research that promote human skills to create safer, more supportive environments for children. Best known for our innovative Second Step® programs, we combine classroom-based curricula with out-of-school time settings to help educators and caring adults build holistic communities for every child through the strengthening of essential human skills. These skills create positive learning environments, support academic success, and help prevent challenges like bullying, substance abuse, and violence. We collaborate with experts in the field to share experiences and champion the cause of educating the whole child, advocating for policies and legislation that prioritize safe and supportive learning environments. Each year, Committee for Children reaches over 26.9 million children worldwide, helping to shape future generations who will create a safe and positive society for all.
