Interviewing at Barings
What the process looks like, and what Barings is really testing for.
You will be evaluated through multiple interview formats, with behavioral and technical skills both showing up at the top of the question set. Across the roles we have guides for, the process consistently includes HR involvement early, team member interviews mid-loop, and senior leader evaluation later.
The most prominent topics you should be ready for are behavioral interviewing and credit research, each at the 100th percentile in the extracted question data. You are also expected to handle core data tooling and analytics topics that appear as very prominent, including Python and SQL, and credit structured products content like Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) and commercial ABS analysis.
You should expect analytical work that looks like case study and case-based assessment, with case study preparation and presentation also highly prominent. Communication quality is explicitly assessed, and the loop includes separate evaluation points that map to technical evaluation and behavioral evaluation, plus recruiter or HR screening and, in some versions of the loop, a Super Day.
The question set is dominated by credit research and structured-product work, alongside Python and SQL, so you should prepare your technical explanations and your credit reasoning in a way that shows clear communication, not just correctness.

HR Screening

Technical and Behavioral Evaluation, plus Team Interviews
Multiple interviews across roundsYou then move into a series of team interviews with hiring managers, senior analysts, and portfolio managers, and there are explicit steps labeled technical evaluation and behavioral evaluation in the reported process. Prepare for analytical questions and case studies, alongside behavioral questions that gauge collaboration and cultural alignment.
