Xero Cloud Engineer interview experience

Even though the questions were framed around software engineering, they leaned deeper into security topics, and it definitely felt like they expected a lot of hands-on experience. It didn’t feel like a casual interview where you could coast on general knowledge.

I didn’t get an offer, and the experience left me with the impression that the bar for depth—especially around security—was pretty high and aligned more with someone who’s done similar work for years.
