The remote interview for a research analyst role was focused and direct.

The interviewer asked for my thoughts on their research topic, which lined up closely with the direction I wanted to take for my dissertation. It wasn’t about unrelated abstract topics—it was clearly about my ability to engage with their work.

After that conversation, they moved quickly to the decision. I ended up getting the job at the end of the interview. What surprised me most was how aligned the discussion was with my interests and how fast it resolved, given the usual uncertainty that can come with hiring.
