The recruiter call went well, and the second round ended up feeling very different from what I expected.

I was told it would be a casual conversation to go over my experience and history, but the call came across as dry and high-level.

At the end, I was told my pitching style wasn’t the best fit for the role. The part that bothered me was that the expectations weren’t set properly at the beginning—if it’s described as casual and focused on reviewing my background, I treated it that way.

I didn’t get an offer, and my reflection was that the mismatch between what they said they’d do and what they evaluated left me with more confusion than clarity.
