I had a short, quick session with a panel where the questions were intense but still held in a fairly courteous frame.

The discussion was centered on my motivation and skills—both technical and how I worked with others—and I had a limited opportunity to ask a couple of questions back. It felt like they were moving fast to confirm key competencies.

Even with strong feedback on performance, I didn’t end up getting the job. What surprised me most was how the final decision seemed to hinge on a very specific disciplinary background that hadn’t been clearly flagged upfront. The whole experience felt less exploratory than confirmatory, like the main hurdle had already been set before I walked in.
