I joined a Zoom interview that was led by the lab’s PI along with one of his postdocs.

The questions were broad and generic—things like talking through my previous experience and even what I did for fun—so it didn’t feel like a high-stakes technical test right away.

It was an easy, low-friction format, and the tone stayed approachable. Overall it felt more like an introductory screen to understand my background and personality in the context of the lab.

I didn’t get an offer. Still, I walked away thinking the process was simple and fairly relaxed, even if it didn’t end in a positive decision for me.
