I had the kind of interview where they asked me questions, and then the expectation flipped back to me—they wanted me to ask questions as well.

It wasn’t just an optional courtesy; if I didn’t ask anything, it was interpreted as a lack of interest, and I understood that it could easily lead to being screened out.

The experience itself felt like a straightforward two-way discussion about the role and what I cared about. What stood out wasn’t one particular question, but the clear signal about engagement and curiosity.

I didn’t end up with an offer, and I reflected that the process had an obvious “two-way energy” requirement that was easy to miss if someone focused only on answering.
