My coding journey began with an online challenge, and then I moved into two rounds where I coded while talking directly with another engineer.

The interviewer asked about recursion, and implementing it on the spot felt genuinely challenging—less about knowing it in theory and more about getting it right under real-time pressure. The senior engineer did help when I got stuck, but the pressure of thinking clearly while writing correct code stayed constant.

I didn’t make it to an offer. Looking back, the part that stuck was how much the live, conversational nature of the rounds mattered; when recursion is involved, small mistakes are easy to make and hard to recover from quickly.
