For this Business Analyst evaluation in February 2024, the focus was on Excel competency across lookup, automation, and analytical modeling.

Excel skills assessment (5 prompts) — I addressed five Excel-focused questions: using VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH, applying macros for automation, approaching complex analysis on large datasets with multiple criteria, structuring nested functions for insights, and using PivotTables/PivotCharts for summarization and visualization. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer; the takeaway was that the role’s bar for practical Excel capability appeared quite high.
