The first step was an HR interview where I talked about my experience and was given a heads-up that it would include an algorithm-focused component.

HR also explained a bit about the culture. Then I moved into a phone screen with a current SDE at TripAdvisor.

The questions weren’t especially difficult, but it was my first interview in more than a year, so I was nervous and not as well prepared as I wanted to be. I missed some obvious things, but I still considered the process useful as a way to get back into serious interviewing. I didn’t get an offer.
