I started with a phone call with the recruiter where we went over my background and I talked about the company.

I was originally expecting an in-person interview, but it got switched to a Zoom conversation with the district manager. During that discussion, I was told something that really changed the tone: they weren’t hiring externally for the store manager role I applied for, and I was actually being considered for an assistant manager position instead.

What followed focused heavily on the practical schedule and the way the job would run. I was told I’d be working 10-hour shifts paid hourly, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with unlimited overtime, and that the benefits sounded strong.
