I began with a phone screening with HR where the conversation was mostly about basic information—standard verification rather than any deep evaluation.

A few days later I got asked to come back the very next day for a Zoom interview with the Chief US Economist for the U.S. economics track.

That follow-up felt like a big jump in level and intent. Even though the recruiter step was brief, the next meeting carried the sense that they wanted to see how I thought about economics and how I could hold my own with a senior subject-matter expert.

It didn’t end with an offer, but the cadence was quick and the structure was clear: HR screen first, then the direct economics conversation.
