My process started with a recruiter call, and then I got pulled into live coding focused on SQL.

The odd part was that there wasn’t any real dataset to work with, so it didn’t feel like I could fully demonstrate how I’d operate with actual data.

After that, there was a business problem or case study where the interviewer asked questions. Overall, the flow felt more like an analyst-style interview than a data scientist one, which left me feeling slightly misaligned with what I thought the role would require. I didn’t move forward to an offer, and the biggest reason it didn’t land well was the mismatch between the expected data-science depth and what the rounds felt like in practice.
