My process was a fairly standard retail-style interview that leaned on the basics.

After scheduling through the usual channels, I sat down with a manager and it started with the familiar questions—talking through my background, reviewing details from my resume, and getting clarity on what I expected from the job. Availability came up repeatedly, including working times and being able to cover shifts while I had school.

The conversation also covered how I handled people and how I worked with others. I was asked to explain what I thought good customer service looked like and how I’d approach customers on the floor. A few questions felt like placeholders for the day-to-day
