After a phone screen, I communicated with the hiring manager by email just to lock in an in-person meeting.

When I arrived, I met the hiring manager and a teammate and got a clearer picture of how the business sales role worked—office supplies, and there was also some local travel involved. It felt like a proper conversation rather than an interrogation, and the focus stayed on matching my background to what the job would actually look like.

The whole process was pretty smooth from the logistics side, and the tone stayed professional. I didn’t end up getting an offer, but I left feeling like I understood the role better than when I first applied.
