Stanford, CAPosted Nov 2015 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I started by making contact first—sending a letter of inquiry and interest, and in parallel reaching out after finding a posting.

The interview journey that followed centered on presenting my prior work and talking through how I’d connect with what the lab was already doing. I ended up doing a presentation about my former work, then I discussed my interests and how I thought I could push the research forward.

The conversations were spread across the PI and the lab. I had Skype discussions with the PI, and I also had a separate call with the lab members. The overall tone felt professional and collaborative, like the point was to gauge both how well I understood the science and how naturally I’d work with the group.
