My first real technical step was unusual: it was a proctored interview rather than a live coding session.

I had to solve three problems that increased in difficulty, and there was no person-to-person interaction at all—I just had to record myself working through them.

The problems felt roughly in the easy-to-medium LeetCode range, but the setup still made it tense. Having to record myself solving the challenges changed the vibe completely, because the pressure wasn’t just on solving—it was on performing the process.

I didn’t make it to the next stage, and I remember thinking the format itself made a difference in how hard it felt.
