My experience was the more traditional, old-school style of interviewing.

I went through rounds that included the kind of “fit” questions you’d expect from a senior-level evaluation, and the tone stayed formal and focused on what I was aiming for.

The hardest part for me came late: in the last round, a senior manager rejected me after I mentioned I was looking to switch in the next six months. That surprised me because it didn’t feel like the type of factor that had to be handled in an interview setting.

Even though it didn’t end in an offer, the process left me feeling that something was misaligned between HR screening and what interviewers decided to react to.
