My first round was with HR and it was a soft pitch—pleasant and easy to talk to.

That set a comfortable baseline. The second round was with a sales leader who seemed to have strong experience, but the interaction felt like they were going through the motions.

They peppered me with questions more than they listened or responded in a natural way. Even though the content was within the usual territory for a sales role, the pacing and engagement made it feel less like an interview and more like a checklist.

I didn’t get an offer. In my reflection, the contrast mattered: the HR round felt human, while the sales leader round felt transactional. It left me with uncertainty
