I went through a fairly standard recruiter-led process: phone first, then an onsite focused more on my projects and situational fit.

Phone screen (recruiter) — Basic questions about my resume and projects, plus a deeper dive into a specific project and how I’d improve it.
Onsite (four people + recruiter) — I talked with engineers/managers and the potential supervisor; questions were mostly project-based and situational rather than purely technical.
Typical HR — A recruiter handled standard HR topics. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer; the takeaway was that telling a coherent project story was central.
