San Jose, CAPosted Jan 2021 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My first technical round surprised me because it wasn’t the kind of thing I expected.

I was asked a system design question and I had to work through it entirely in my head, without any structured scratch work or back-and-forth scaffolding. The interviewer was friendly and respectful, and I didn’t feel talked down to, but the format itself threw me off since it didn’t match the typical technical expectations I had going in.

By the end, I didn’t pass that round. Even with the good tone, it felt like I was being judged on a style of thinking that I hadn’t prepared for, and it ultimately ended my process quickly rather than opening up the rest of the interview stages.
