The role was described to me as a team position in London working on Sage’s products, but the interview itself turned into a phone call with a US-based manager.

Once we got into the discussion, it became clear the day-to-day work wasn’t really about product engineering—it sounded more like a time-zone intermediary between the US manager and outsourced contractors in New Delhi for a delayed marketing website.

I tried to probe for more clarity, but the workflow they described included status meetings at the start and end of each day just to hand work between the US, UK, and India. The overall management style felt like a waterfall, command-and-control setup, and it didn’t match what the job description implied.
