I interviewed expecting J2EE development workplace experience, and although some questions were basic, a surprising advanced concept question derailed me.

Technical interview (conceptual Java/J2EE design topics) — I was asked things like the difference between an interface and an abstract class, plus a question about the difference between a facade and a flyweight model that I hadn’t encountered. Outcome: I didn’t move forward, and the takeaway was that the company’s expectations and specific design-pattern depth could be a hurdle even when some questions seemed simple.
